A Night of Moroccan Luxury

On Friday July 17th Helping Hands Forever hosted a Moroccan Night of Luxury. The event raised funds and awareness for CAWC (Connections for Abused Women and their Children).

CAWC has made a commitment to ending domestic violence though, “self-help, and empowerment approach”. CAWC provides shelter for women and children, offers counseling, advocacy and a 24-hour hotline. Through education, service collaborations, and institutional advocacy, Connections for Abused Women and their Children works for social change.

The event was held at the Shrine, a chic lounge in Chicago’s South Loop. The theme, Moroccan Luxury, was woven throughout the event. The tables were garnished with striking bouquets of exotic flowers and the lighting was soft and sultry. Guests mingled about sampling hor d’oeuvres from Mai Chef Cuisine and sipping on complementary house wine.

A traditional belly dancer enticed the crowd, capturing their attention before a fashion show began. The show featured pieces by MGO Fashions and Isabella Designs. Throughout the night guests had the opportunity to bid on silent auction items. The finale of the fashion show presented several Chicago powerhouse women including Susanna Negovan from Michigan Avenue Magazine, Elena Sotomayer, VP of CNM, and Lauren Mitrick, President of WCR. . The inclusion of successful Chicago business women emphasized CAWC’s goal to empower women and conquer abuse.
